Treat ourselves sweet

Sunshine At CUHK has shared some reflections on different tastes such as sour, bitter and pungent flavours. How can we miss out on sweetness when many of us regard it as a pleasurable taste? Apart from our natural inclination for sweet tastes, some suggested that sugar is a natural pain reliever. A research also reported that a medical centre in Seattle had been developing a protocol which used sugary solution to reduce medical procedural pain in newborns. While more research is needed on the use of sugar in medical settings, there is little reason to not treat ourselves with some desserts every now and then. Do it also to remind us to be kind to ourselves.
