Free Distribution of self-care tips pamphlet (Chinese only, limited supply) 2019-10-29

Over 10,000 tear gas bombs have been fired since June. It may be wise for us to learn how to protect ourselves and our loved ones. A pamphlet sharing self-care tips of tear gas, pepper spray exposure and laser pointer information is now available at The University Library, G/F BFC, G/F PSC, and the Wellness and Counselling Centre@PSC (Chinese only). [Flourishing First Year@CUHK] Expressive Arts Workshop: Understanding Yourself 2019-11-11

Have you ever resonated with a song that you heard? Or watching a movie or drama that resembles your self-portrayal? Or come across any scenic views or images that make you have special feelings that you could never forget? 

Assimilate your creation into arts, it can become your mirror to help you understand yourself. 

The workshop aims to enhance self-understanding of participants, including their strengths, insights and passions via the creative process and elements of visual arts and drama. Students can explore themselves through this self-exploration process while enjoy the fun through creation of an art piece.

uBuddies Program 2019-09-10


We are now recruiting members for the uBuddies Program 2019-2020

Have you ever thought of becoming a peer counsellor so as to offer support and assistance to your peers who appear frustrated and confused?

Since 2010, Wellness and Counselling Centre of the Office of Student Affairs has launched the ‘uBuddies’ Peer Counselling Network to promote Caring Campus.  Ten batches of uBuddies have completed their training and have been in active service for years.  We would like to invite you to join us! Let us build together a truly caring and positive campus in CUHK!

Who are eligible to join the uBuddies program?

If you are full-time non-final year undergraduate students in The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and you

  • are interested in developing helping profession
  • wish to develop your personal potential and character strengths
  • love to help peers
  • want to add colours to your university lives

Training will be conducted mainly in Cantonese with English supplement.

uPals Program 2019-09-10


We are now recruiting members for the uPals Program 2019-2020

uPals is a newly launched program by the Wellness and Counselling Centre of the Office of the Student Affairs focusing on peer wellness promotion and strengthening peer support atmosphere. The uPals members will work together to plan and implement mental wellness campaigns to promote supportive, fun and caring service projects on campus.

Who are eligible to join the uPals program?

If you are full-time non-final year undergraduate students in The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and you

  • are interested in organizing some fun events focusing on mental health
  • wish to be part of the World Mental Health Day, organize cheering-up activities during examination period, etc.
  • love to support peers
  • want to promote positive lifestyle choices to support mental wellness

All trainings and workshops will be conducted mainly in English.

World Mental Health Day 2019 8 & 10 Oct

In celebrating the World Mental Health Day (Oct 10) this year, WACC is dedicating this event as a campus-wide initiative to raise awareness on the importance of good mental health. This year, it will be a two-day programme to be held at the campus and details are as follows:

A United and Connected Campus: Suicide Prevention Symposium 2018 16-03-2018

Target Audience: CUHK Staff who are involved in student support services

Content :  This Symposium aims at probing into the latest research and intervention in regards to suicide prevention within the campus community. Education and mental health experts are invited to share their expertise on ways to combat suicidal risks among university students. Meanwhile, relevant colleagues from faculties, hostels, Security Office and Wellness and Counselling Centre will be invited to share their experiences in handling critical cases and how everyone could act as gatekeeper in suicide interventions.

Laughter Yoga Workshop 10-01-2018

Content :

Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact, jokes and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real contagious laughter.

  * Not suitable to join: 

Laughter Yoga is an aerobic exercise, due to the breathing techniques used in each exercise. Although anyone can join no matter the age or physical mobility, you should always ask your doctor before starting any exercise program. People who have had recent surgeries, pregnant and any kind of serious sickness should avoid this exercise and please consult your doctor to determine if it's right for you.
